BBC School News Report 2015
- Details
Another year has flown by and what a good one it has been for King Ethelbert School. I am increasingly proud of our students and what they achieve both in the classroom and beyond. This term has seen the majority of our students make excellent progress in their lessons and their enthusiasm for learning is extremely evident as our visitors’ notice as they walk around our school.
This time of year always brings out the very best in our young people and a whole host of charity events have taken place which have raised considerable amounts of money for all sorts of people in need of our help both locally and abroad. All of our students are so good at thinking about others and their care and support of others is something that I am always enormously proud of.
I wish all students, staff, parents, carers, governors, friends and the community of Birchington a very happy time over the festive season and look forward to another year of great achievements and success in 2015.
Year 9 students have been presenting their latest Homework Projects. “A Day in the Life” is a History and Food Technology Project where students compare their lives in the present day with the life of a post WWII child living in the 1950’s, with a particular focus on food. Students showcased their projects in the school hall and family and friends were invited to attend. Many students produced projects of a high standard; many had baked products using 1950’s recipes which we all enjoyed sampling! There were also many authentic photographs, ration books and other memorabilia that students had borrowed from grandparents and friends. The quality of many of the written projects and visual displays was of a very high standard and there was much positive feedback from visitors, other students and staff. Well done year 9!
