An excellent two hours with a qualified instructor who had this to say about the group:
‘Thanks for today’s session,
Fantastic group of kids they are a credit to your school.’
Cycling Operations Co-ordinator
Betteshanger Sustainable Parks
This is the first of three sessions they have to develop their skills and time trial results. As part of their Unit 10 Land-Based Adventurous Activities, it allows all the students to eventually achieve a ‘Distinction’. Who said learning can’t be fun?
We were invited to the council chambers for a series of presentations with question and answer opportunities regarding various topics: how the different levels of government work; crime statistics in Thanet and the police response; Alan Faulkner from the fire service discussed young driver responsibility; the importance of waste disposal and related council projects and, finally, how various offices link together for a multi-agency response.
Students all had individual microphones and were a credit to the school with some interesting and very pertinent questions. Watch this space for a project they are going to get involved in leading on from this entertaining and informative session.
What a tremendous evening! This was the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the award and every recipient received a ‘goody bag’ of various gifts. Various dignitaries from around Kent were present but the real stars were all the students receiving their awards. We had twenty four Bronze recipients and we are immensely proud of their achievement. Thank you to all the parents or guardians who gave their support on the night and the raffle raised a brilliant £353.00 to support funding of this event for next year. Lastly, special mention and thanks to Maisie Waller for her superb singing and students from the Ursuline for their performances as well.
To the Year 10s who have enrolled; make sure you are getting your Skills, Physical and Voluntary sections underway and registered on the ‘edofe’ website. Your practice and assessed expeditions are being sorted out for the start of Year 11, September and early October, but you must ensure the other sections are being completed otherwise you will not complete the award.
Well done to the successful Bronze recipients!
