The second annual Coastal Academies Trust Concert took place in the Winter Gardens on the 6th of February 2018. Students from every school in the multi academy trust performed to a large, enthusiastic crowd, showing off all of the musical ability and talent across the schools.
The show was opened in amazing style by the children of Cliftonville Primary School who sang in both English and Spanish as well as performing a song in sign language and featuring an terrific solo performance of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ performed by one of the pupils.
This great start was followed by a wide range of performances from students of the four senior schools, with bands, choirs, musical theatre and even comedy numbers. Over the course of two hours of entertaining performances, musicians from King Ethelbert, Hartsdown, Royal Harbour and Dane Court displayed a huge range of talent, revealing the quality of music being learned and performed across the group.
To complete the evening’s entertainment, all of the students joined together ‘en masse’ to perform the Take That song ‘Never Forget’. This choral finale featured the confident voices of Cliftonville Primary, a rock band from Hartsdown Academy and all the students who had taken part in the show.
This fantastic evening was a wonderful opportunity for everyone in our schools’ communities to witness the great progress being made in music across the Coastal Academies Trust. The standard of performance was indeed a huge step on from last year and I’m sure that the show in 2019 will be more impressive still!
Thanks and congratulations to all involved.
