Organising yourself
It is important to keep your notes, handouts and worksheets together in a separate file for each subject. Always write subject and date on top of loose notes so they can be filed in chronological order.
When you are studying, much of your time will be spent taking notes that will help you with further study. It is important that they are taken well.
-
Make sure that they are clear and concise.
-
Refer to information recorded elsewhere or links with other areas of study.
-
When recording information from books it is important to head notes with the title and author of the book.
-
Regular study is better than cramming sessions.
-
Do not forget to make use of all the available resources including your teachers - they are the best people to help you.
Organising your time
-
You will work more efficiently if you have no distractions.
-
Make sure you have eaten well.
-
Your work periods should be about an hour in length - at end of this period you should take a short break, and have some refreshments before your next session.
