Personal, social and health education is an enrichment programme that supports pupils’ personal and social development. The programme is reviewed and updated annually by year leaders to reflect the specific learning and development needs of each year group. A range of themes relevant to each year is covered and includes personal safety, sex and relationships education, physical and emotional health issues, citizenship, preparations for work-related learning and careers education and guidance. The course is delivered in a diverse manner and will include guest speakers, theatre presentations, video, discussion, alongside the more traditional activities of teaching and learning. Each head of year is responsible for leading across the school on the five outcomes of the Every Child Matters agenda:
• Be Healthy These issues are both incorporated into the PSHE programme and the wider learning undertaken by students through subject specific activities. |
