"It's impossibe to access unhealthy food once you walk through the school gates" OFSTED report (November 2009)

King Ethelbert School is committed to the education initiative "every child matters" and this includes implementing 'Healthy Living' as set out by the Department for Children, Schools and Families.   Please use the links on the right to view this week's menu and the sandwiches that are available each day.

We have been awarded the "Healthy Schools" award where we demonstrated that healthy living has been addressed and implemented in 4 key areas - Personal, Social and Health Education, Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Emotional Health and Well Being.

"Healthy Schools help children and young people to reach their potential by building on a solid foundation of health to do better in learning and in life." (Healthy Schools Initiative)

King Ethelbert School is committed to healthy eating for both pupils and staff.  We pride ourselves that our facilities are of the highest standard.  Our catering manager, Mrs Valerie Partridge, is fully trained and will cater for special diets, as and when required.  Our menus are wide and varied, wholesome and enjoyable.

We provide our own 'in-house' catering run independently by the school.  This is to ensure that pupils and parents pay the lowest possible price.  The meals are freshly home-cooked on the premises and we have an ever changing menu which is not restricted by company initiative.

We also have a 'breakfast club' which is open between 8.15 a.m. and 8.45 a.m. and sell snacks at breaktime (11.10 a.m. to 11.25 a.m.).  Lunch is served between 12.25 p.m. and 1.10 p.m.
