Retail

This is a BTEC First Diploma designed to encourage students to develop the personal skills and qualities needed for work, learning and achieving their full potential. It gives students the chance to explore the vast array of opportunities offered in the retail sector of employment and to acquire appropriate personal and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding.

This course is right for students who have a keen interest to find out more about the opportunities in the world of retail. Students should be interested in customer care and want to develop their communication skills.

There are three core units: -

  • Introduction to retail services
  • Retail selling and customer service
  • Merchandising and display for retail services

In addition students take three of the following specialist units: -

  • Advertising and sales in retail
  • Stock control and security in retail
  • Transport, distribution and storage for retail
  • Fashion retailing
  • Food retailing
  • Introduction to careers in retail
  • Retail work-related project - this will be a work placement in industry
