On Saturday the 14th of June, the Blend Choir hosted an all day singing event to raise money for Demelza, a well-known children’s charity. The event itself was a marathon, the idea being to have continuous singing from 7.30am until 11.00pm, with a huge variety of solo and group singers taking part in half hour slots throughout the day.
KES was asked to participate by the organiser, and there was no shortage of people who volunteered. In the end, we ended up with a small number of students who took it on themselves to prepare pieces to sing.
The slot went amazingly, with all of them singing at their best and getting a great deal of applause. Not only was it another example of just how much talent we have at KES, but also a good experience for the students who, for many, it was a very different arena from what they are used to.
My sincerest thanks and praise to Gabi George, Ellie Clarke, Alfie Murray, Mollie Clarke, Hannah McGilley, Sophie Brinkman and Jennifer Pirbudak for their stunning contributions to the day. They were, as always, outstanding.”
