King Ethelbert School are celebrating record breaking results this year which has seen GCSE grades soar and individual students making exceptional progress at every level of ability. 53% of the students achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths which is a 23% increase from last year. 60% achieved an A* — C in English, 60% in Maths. As well as the superb headline figures which have smashed all the government targets by a long way, the school has also got the highest ever percentage of the top grades A and A* in all subjects. 66% of students achieved 5 A* — C grades (an increase of 12% from last year) and 91% of students gained at least 5 GCSE passes.
The results show clearly that students have made exceptional progress during their time at King Ethelbert at whatever starting point they had in Year 7.
Kate Greig, Headteacher, said “these are magnificent results and we are enormously proud of all our students. We have a fantastic staff who work so hard and do everything that needs to be done to ensure success for each individual and they deserve all the praise as their hard work has completely paid off. They are the best results the school has ever had by a long way but what is so important is that these results show how much progress all students make during their time at our school. The students deserve every success – they were a wonderful Year 11 last year. I am delighted that so many of our students are staying with us in the sixth form.”
The record breaking GCSE examination results comes on the back of the superb IBCC Sixth Form results the school achieved in July. King Ethelbert School is a school that is going places and its academic record is becoming hard to match.
