Quick Service

This course is for people who are interested in a possible career in the catering industry. This is both a practical course, learning how to provide a wide range of foods and create and cook dishes ready for a restaurant and learning how to serve customers. This is backed up by theory sessions, usually in the afternoon. 50% of the practical time is spent in the kitchen preparing food and 50% in the staff Bistro learning to serve food.

There are 7 units which are covered within the two years. These are: -

  • Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working environment
  • Contribute to effective team work
  • Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
  • Maintain food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food
  • Provide a counter/takeaway service
  • Prepare vegetables
  • Prepare and cook meat/poultry
