At the end of Key Stage 3 (year 9) there is a target for each of these National Curriculum subjects.
Why have targets and tests?
-
We use them to see how your child is doing, what they need to do to improve and to assess if there is anything we need to do to tailor our teaching and learning.
-
Children get a sense of achievement from reaching a milestone and going beyond it.
-
The government uses them to see how many children are making the right kind of progress (especially in English, Maths and Science, where children take National Curriculum tests at age 14)
-
The targets for every child in each subject desribe what pupils should be able to do and know.
